Description
This book is a definitive resource created as part of the project "Transmitting and Stabilizing the Folk Long Performance Technique of Limbe Performers—Circular Breathing through the Old Repertoire to the New Generations," from 2019 to 2021. Funded by UNESCO in partnership with the Mongolian National Commission of UNESCO and the National Center for Cultural Heritage, this work firmly establishes the framework for understanding and celebrating the rich tradition of Mongolian flute music. The book's pages provide a comprehensive and chronological account of critical elements related to this art form, including in-depth performers' biographies, the evolution of flute training, solo works for the Limbe, and significant events such as competitions and festivals where these artists have showcased their talents. It features biographies of 104 flutists, inheritors, and 40 students representing esteemed field performers. These dedicated individuals are not only masters of their craft but also vital figures in ensuring the future of Limbe music, as they inspire the next generation of artists to continue this cultural heritage.
