Description
Mongolia is a member of the United Nations, and the UN's specialized agency, UNESCO, actively participates in the conventions that these organizations have ratified. In 2018, Mongolia successfully organized its first national festival dedicated to "Intangible Cultural Heritage." The long-term development policy known as "Vision 2050" reflects Mongolia's commitment to becoming a center for nomadic citizenship and a significant hub for global nomadic culture. In line with this vision, the agenda set by the President of Mongolia aims to enhance the nation's role as a center of world nomadic civilization and foster collaboration with Mongolians worldwide. To achieve the goal of "regularly organizing the Nomad Culture and Sports Festival," the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Government Implementation Agency for Culture and Arts, held the Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival from August 12 to 14, 2022, at Gorkhi-Terelj National Park in Ulaanbaatar. The festival attracted 1,283 participants from 20 provinces and the capital, including professionals from the cultural sector. This report includes presentations delivered by heritage workers who participated in the festival, quantitative data regarding the heritage showcased, and evaluations from the judges.
