Description
The author presents a comprehensive overview of the repertoire and distribution of long songs, drawing from extensive field research conducted by the Institute of Linguistics of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) between 1960 and 1977, as well as his own findings from 2021 in Khuvsgul Province. The evidence clearly indicates that there are approximately 130 long songs within this region. This report rigorously analyzes the themes, content, genres, and poetic features of these songs. It underscores the critical need for immediate collaboration between researchers, local governing bodies, and cultural workers to effectively revive and transmit the forgotten songs of Khuvsgul Province.
