Description
This article is focused on the study of proverbs and sayings in oral and written literature. It should be noted that proverbs and sayings are one of the key themes of literary criticism, which develops and improves over time. In this article, the author explores this topic based on his research materials. The author notes that the proverb is consistent in form, content, and style of writing and influences advice since it is based on life experience and everyday life of people. For this reason, proverbs and exhortations sometimes have the same meaning, but in some other cases, they have a special meaning. It should be noted that in Tajik literature, proverbs and sayings are used as separate genres. These problems in Western literary criticism led to the emergence of these two concepts as a literary genre. It can be noted that both in oral and written literature, the word proverb is used in relation to a proverb, but in common parlance, the word proverb is almost never used.
