Description
The wedding ceremony is one of the oldest ceremonies in Badakhshan, Tajikistan, which has been frequently informed in the sources and research works of historians, cultural experts, and linguists. The researchers have classified the terms of the wedding ceremony into the following groups depending on their content: a) ethnographic or seasonal ethnographic terms
b) ritual folklore vocabulary
folklore vocabulary of rituals.
The author in this article states that the vocabulary of the wedding ceremony of the Shugni languages is widely used, and they are associated with folk customs and traditions. These words are found in the works of ethnographers, but they have not yet been studied by the ethnolinguistic approach. Therefore, the author collected this category of words from the oral speeches of the people and made them the subject of study and ethnolinguistic analysis.
Most of the vocabulary of the wedding ceremony belongs to ancient times and has borrowings from the Tajik-Persian language. During the analysis, it turned out the material collected in the article is related to the wedding, the bride, and her wardrobe.
