Description
This book is based on the materials of field research conducted by members of the ethnographic expedition of the A. Donish Institute of History, Archaeology, and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan in Sarazm and the Upper Zarafshan in October 2019. The folk culture of village Voru, distinguished by a certain locality, and its geographical proximity to the territory of the ancient proto-city of Sarazm of the Neolithic and Bronze Ages allowed the authors to capture some reminiscences in the local spiritual and material heritage, ethnocultural features of the modern rural settlement.
The book provides a brief ethnographic description of the village of Voru, the history and geography of the village, traditional crafts, and craftsmen. Some sections also tell about the daily life of the residents of Voru, the culture, and the children's games of the children of the village.
The craft of village Voru continues to exist in the natural ethnic environment, within the traditional Tajik culture, and the products of folk art have not yet gone out of use here, despite the fact that, under external influence, the priorities of local residents are gradually beginning to change.
