Description
A consideration of Pentecostal church worship in Lae, Morobe province. After background on traditional Lutheran approaches to hymnody, the author contrasts the acoustic guitar (palang) accompanied by Christian worship with that accompanied by an electric band (full set
often consisting of electric guitars, bass guitar, keyboard, and drum kit, along with amplifiers, soundboard, speakers, and mikes). The former is considered not appropriate for forward-looking evangelicals. Various songs are transcribed and discussed. The fulset has become the sound of spiritual and liturgical renewal.
